Cricketers’ Ride Raises £8,000

A massive ‘thank you’ to the 17 lads from across the world of recreational cricket in Wales who recently undertook a special 180-mile bike ride linking all of the clubs in the South Wales Premier League.  They raised a total of £8,000, with a proportion of that being donated to the Tom Maynard Trust.

The brainchild of Jonathan Davies, it  was inspired by Penarth Cricket Club’s promotion to the SWPL, with the group starting at Carmarthen and riding to St Fagans on day one, before completing the ride to Penarth by linking all the clubs on the eastern side the following day.

The Penarth Times covered the story in more detail, which you can read here: http://www.penarthtimes.co.uk/sport/15251324.Cricket_players_raise___8000_for_charity_through_gruelling_bike_ride/?ref=fbshr

The riders, drawn from clubs across the league as well as from Cricket Wales, were Gareth Bishop, Simon Dalton, Gareth Davies, Jonathan Davies, Steffan Davies, Ceri Duke, Paul Elks, Matthew Evans, Rowan Evans, Mark Frost, Owain Hopkins, Peter Hybart, Steff James, Stuart Morris, Tom Sidford, Justin Thomas and Ian Williams.

On behalf of everyone at the Trust, we really appreciate your efforts and support.  Have a great season all!
