The seventh annual Tom Maynard Day at St Fagans Cricket Club on Friday 5th July has raised in excess of £25,000. The final tally won’t be known for a little while as everything is chased and tidied up but it’s already clear that the total will be the highest since the event began back in 2013.
“We were blown away by everyone’s support and the event certainly seems to have established itself in the South Wales summer social calendar. There were around 300 at the marquee lunch before the game and although we knew we had some amazing auction and raffle prizes we certainly had a very generous group of people with us on the day! The Trust and the family want to thank everyone who came along to support us, those who contributed auction and raffle prizes, along with Owen Money, Mark Wallace and Richard Madley for providing the entertainment, the MCing and running the auction.
Thank you too to the players of both sides for giving up their time, the umpires, to Abbey Glass for their ongoing sponsorship, and, of course, to everyone at St Fagans, notably Jane and Rob John, Tim and Val Hopkins and the Chair, Dave Harris, who do such a lot of the work. We hope everyone enjoyed what we thought was another fantastic day. The family really appreciates the love and support and the money raised will help us to continue doing valuable work helping young aspiring sportspeople. Here’s to 2020!”
