Another Cracking St Fagans Fundraiser

By September 17, 2021No Comments

On Friday 12th September we enjoyed another fantastic Tom Maynard Day at St Fagans Cricket Club, raising well over £12,000 in the process.

The Bravo Singing Waiters had the whole marquee up and singing – a real antidote to all the lockdowns during the pandemic, which caused the cancellation of the 2020 event – and the St Fagans team and Matt Maynard’s Invitation XI, including Wales and British Lions forward Ken Owens and several members of Glamorgan’s Royal London Cup winning side, managed a tie on the field.

Our thanks to the club, as always, in particular to Jane, David, Tim and Val, along with the players, umpires and scorers, all those who donated and bought auction items, those donating and contributing to the raffle, and to Mark Wallace as MC and Andrew Thomas as auctioneer. The Trust is also grateful to Abbey Glass for their continued sponsorship. We really appreciate it.

Next year will be the final year we raise funds exclusively for the Tom Maynard Trust. The money raised from this year’s event, along with Matt’s Wellyman Walking challenge and the 2022 St Fagans fundraiser, will all go towards the Trust’s exciting legacy project at Sophia Gardens, which you can read about elsewhere on the website.

The annual Tom Maynard Day is a fixture in the South Wales social calendar and we intend to continue with it from 2023, but we will use the event to support and help other causes.

Thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a special day.
