Nine friends and former colleagues will be joining Matthew Maynard to run the Cardiff Half Marathon on Saturday 5th October, all of them fundraising for the Tom Maynard Trust.

Alongside Matt, the nine running the Cardiff Half for the Trust will be:

  • long time Glamorgan playing colleague Steve Watkin;
  • recently retired Glamorgan opening batman Gareth Rees;
  • current Glamorgan quartet Mark Wallace, Will Bragg, Ben Wright and Dean Cosker;
  • former Glamorgan opener and now Stadium Manager Dan Cherry;
  • Glamorgan’s Head of Talent Development, Richard Almond; and
  • former Cricket Operations administrator at Glamorgan, Sarah Bell, now working at the ECB.

Matthew Maynard commented:

“It’s fantastic to have nine friends and former Glamorgan playing and work colleagues helping me with the fundraising effort on this one and I really appreciate the sacrifice these guys are making. They were all close to Tom in their own ways and it’s wonderful that they think so much of him that they’re prepared to put in the hard yards on what is a really difficult challenge.  We’re all at different stages as runners but hopefully everyone will come through ok and I really hope they get the support they deserve.”
